Building on the athlete's sense of balance, plyometric training improves the kinesthetic and proprioceptive awareness gained with balance training. While jumping is a somewhat normal activity, the ability to jump properly is not. Unfortunately, plyometrics are often misunderstood as an unsafe type training that results in injury. When taught properly, plyometric training both improves athletic performance and reduces the rates of injury/re-injury.
David Potach is a nationally known expert in the field of plyometric training. He has written chapters and lectures on its use for high-level athletes and persons of all skills and abilities.
The jump training program administered by Omaha Sports Physical Therapy, will not only instruct the athlete in the finer points of jumping, each athlete will also have a sport- and individual-specific jump training program designed to meet sport and athlete goals.
In addition to the traditional lower body plyometric training offered, Omaha Sports Physical Therapy offers upper body plyometric training, with specific attention given to the shoulder essential for throwing athletes.
