Whether you are riding to the grocery
store, biking the Keystone Trail, or doing a century
every weekend, it is absolutely essential that you
and your bike "fit" properly. We go beyond
the "basic" bike fit by evaluating how you
fit on the bike, not solely how the bike fits you.
In other words, we look at both parts of the equation,
the powerplant (you) and the cockpit
(the bike) to ensure a good fit.
During the bike fit, one of our physical therapists
will review your medical history, cycling goals and
any previous injuries that may require special attention.
Your bike's seat height, fore-aft position, will be
set up to reduce injury potential and improve your
position and performance on the bike.
What
is a Medical Bike Fit?
-
Bike fits not only improves your
performance on the bike, but it may reduce your
risk for injuries. Cycling should be done with little
to no pain; your position plays an important role
in allowing that. Your body is unique; the bike
should be set up for your uniqueness. The best position
for one person probably isn’t the optimal
position for you.
Why
have a Medical Bike Fit?
-
It will make you a better cyclist
by improving power and efficiency.
- You'll ride with less aches and pains because you're
in proper alignment.
- If you have neck, back, or knee pain, saddle sores,
or hand or foot numbness, your bicycle probably doesn't
fit you properly.
- A good bike fit can also improve your pedaling efficiency
and aerodynamics and actually make you faster.
